Team Spezza defeated Team Schenn in a shootout by the score of 10-9 to win the inaugural Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Cup at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, ON. The week-long event brought together some of the country's premier bantam-age hockey talent.
"Great players on both sides, phenomenal talent," said Spezza. "Hockey's in a good place in Canada. With the way the camp's gone, a 10-9 shootout win for us, it couldn't be scripted any better."
The game began with a fevered pace during the first period, as the two teams combined to score eight goals, including two by Brayden Point.
After Team Spezza opened up a 7-4 lead in the second period, Robert Fabbri's second goal of the game propelled Team Schenn to a comeback that would make the score 7-7 heading to the final frame.
Defenceman Roland McKeown tied the game up at 9-9 with seconds to play, setting up the shootout.
